- Both Type A&B students will be requested to present final achievement on Sept.11(Fri).

A few for both Type A&B
- Applicants must belong to universities whose head or the delegated person can issue a formal letter of request and agreement on behalf of applicants.
- You must have a studentship at an academic institution at the time of application throughout the end of the program period.

Furthermore, applicants must satisfy at least one of the following:
(Not required for the Psychological Process Research Team only)- Presentation of a full paper at a selective, peer-reviewed international conference (extended abstracts, workshops, and non-archival publications are not considered).
- Publication of a peer-reviewed journal article as the first author or as an equally contributing author (explicitly stated).
- The host lab's principal investigator will determine whether your paper meets the requirements for a full paper at a selective, peer-reviewed international conference. We will not respond to individual inquiries.
- ※Those who belong to the universities that have collaborative research plan with GRP are not eligible for this internship. (e.g. Kyoto University, Doshisha Univ., Nara Institute of Science and Technology)
- Program Details
- Details are subject to guidelines of hosting research team.
- Working hours
- Interns must work on every RIKEN workday during internship period. Daily working hours:9:00~17:20(Break: 12:00~12:50)
- Application screening

After the application deadline, we will conduct document screening and interviews (WEB).
Regarding the selection results:
Type A&B: We will contact only those who pass the screening by April 27 (Mon), 2026.
Please note that only those who pass the screening will be asked to submit the required documents at a later date. Only those who pass the subsequent review within our institute will be finalized as accepted candidates.
- We cannot respond to inquiries regarding selection or review results.
- If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, such as not being enrolled in a university or graduate school, your application will be rejected. We will not provide individual consultations.

The submitted documents are strictly controlled based on RIKEN Personal Information Protection Regulations and used only for the purpose of screening. No private information in applications is disclosed to third parties, either intentionally or through negligence. Application documents will not be returned. - Expenses covered

The expenses below will be covered in accordance with RIKEN travel policy.
- One round-trip airfare or bullet train (Shinkansen) fare depending on the distance.

Accommodation fee: JPY11,100 per day and JPY2,400 as daily allowance
- For periods exceeding 30 days, 90% of the above specified amount is paid: JPY9,990 per day for accommodation fee and JPY2,160 per day for daily allowance.
- For periods exceeding 60 days, 80% ofthe above specified amount is paid: JPY8,880 per day for accommodation fee and JPY1,920 per day for daily allowance.
Note- All students will receive JPY393,900 for the first month (calculated based on 29nights 30 days full cverage) and for the 2nd month, Type A students will receive 90% of the full amount (JPY354,510 in accordance with RIKEN travel policy.

The reimbursement will be carried out at the time of after the first month (for Type A&B) and one more time after the second month for Type A students. For overseas banks the reimbursement process may take certain time.
Please be ready to temporarily cover your daily expenses until the reimbursement is carried out. - Those who belong to universities within 50 kilometers in distance from RIKEN will receive commuting expenses only.
- Accommodation will be basically booked by the students and the transportation fee between the accommodation and the RIKEN office must be covered from the daily allowances RIKEN will reimburse.
- Reimbursement will be made after the required documents are submitted. If you fail to abide by RIKEN travel policy, the full amount may not be reimbursed.
- For overseas air tickets, please do not arrange it yourself until the secretariat will contact you for instructions.
- For participants joining from abroad, please note that the date of entry into Japan will be the day before your internship start date, and the date of departure from Japan will be the day after your internship end date.
