Knowledge Acquisition and Dialogue Research Team, Psychological Process Research Team, Interactive Robot Research Team and Behavior Learning Research Team, Guardian Robot Project (GRP), RIKEN offers an internship program targeting undergraduate/graduate students for summer 2026.

The internship program is a project fostering researchers dedicated to robotics with the aim of orienting interns to R&D in leading-edge robotics research by providing them with an opportunity to work in GRP research teams.

Eligibility
Undergraduate/Graduate Students (both in Japan and overseas) can apply on the condition that they meet all the requirements below.
  • Applicants must belong to universities whose head or the delegated person can issue a formal letter of request and agreement on behalf of applicants.
  • Eligible applicants must be enrolled in an academic institute at the time of application throughout the program period.
  • Furthermore, applicants must satisfy at least one of the following:
    (Not required for the Psychological Process Research Team only)
    • Presentation of a full paper at a selective, peer-reviewed international conference (extended abstracts, workshops, and non-archival publications are not considered).
    • Publication of a peer-reviewed journal article as the first author or as an equally contributing author (explicitly stated).

Note 1: Those who belong to the universities that have collaborative research plan with GRP are not eligible for this internship. (e.g. Kyoto University, Doshisha University, Nara Institute of Science and Technology)

Note 2: If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, such as not being enrolled in a university or graduate school, your application will be rejected. We will not provide individual consultations.

Note 3: The host lab's principal investigator will determine whether your paper meets the requirements for a full paper at a selective, peer-reviewed international conference. We will not respond to individual inquiries.
